It Started With Spain. It Became So Much More.
In 2006, four girlfriends had a dream: a trip to Spain.
LoLa, Kitty, GiGi and Coco met through work, and somewhere between the daily grind and dreaming of Spanish adventures, we decided we needed a standing date to plan our getaway.
Wednesday nights. Around a kitchen table.
There was wine. There was champagne. There was cooking, laughing, crying, singing and dancing. And somewhere along the way, probably between the second glass of bubbly and a very questionable dance move, something wonderful happened.
Champagne Wednesday was born.
And yes, we made it to Spain. All four of us: Coco, Kitty, GiGi and LoLa. It was every bit as amazing and memorable as we’d dreamed, and we even made it to Ibiza. We came home with stories, memories, and probably a few things best left in Spain. But the greatest souvenir wasn’t something we packed. It was a friendship tradition that had already become part of our lives. What started as planning for a vacation became a tradition that would last decades.
More Than a Wednesday
Over the years, our lives changed. Careers evolved. Marriages began. Some ended. Children grew up. We celebrated milestones, battled cancer, navigated heartbreaking losses, and faced challenges none of us could have anticipated during those first Wednesday gatherings.
Through it all, one thing remained constant: friendship.
And while four women started the tradition, our circle grew. Along the way, other wonderful women joined our celebrations, shared their stories, brought their own sparkle, and became part of the Champagne Wednesday journey. Some friendships have lasted decades. Others have enriched particular chapters of our lives. Each has contributed something meaningful to the memories we’ve made. Because the beauty of friendship isn’t just about who was there at the beginning. It’s about the people who show up, the connections we nurture, and the love we share along the way.
We didn’t always have the answers. We didn’t always agree. And we certainly didn’t always behave.
But we showed up.
Sometimes with champagne. Sometimes with dinner. Sometimes with nothing more than a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. And sometimes, the best thing we could do was turn up the music and dance.
The Legacy We Didn’t Expect
Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about Champagne Wednesday is what it taught our children.
They grew up watching women prioritize friendship. They saw what loyalty looks like, what it means to show up for someone, and how laughter can carry you through life’s hardest moments. Without ever setting out to teach a lesson, we showed them that friendship isn’t simply something you enjoy when life is convenient.
It’s something you nurture, protect and carry with you.
That’s a legacy worth raising a glass to.
Twenty Years Later, We’re Still Dreaming
Today, GiGi, Kitty and LoLa are sharing the spirit of Champagne Wednesday with the world, with a little help from our fabulous mascot, Queen Rosy. We carry the memories of everyone who has been part of this journey and there’s always room for more. We’ve accumulated plenty of stories, a few questionable decisions, and enough laughter to fill a lifetime. And we’re nowhere near finished.
